UConn, Oklahoma 1-2 in coaches’ poll Gophers up to #19 in both polls. Bracketology Gophers are a #5 seed. With Mills out with broken hand, St. Mary’s NCAA hopes take hit Gophers jump to “Should be in”. Minnesota Gophers men’s basketball team going after bigger goal – NCAA tournament Why stop there with an outside [...]

Minnesota somehow still ranked
Posted on 26. Jan, 2009 by JF.
At least according to the coaches poll. The rankings are more or less meaningless, especially this week. If the Gophers beat Illinois they deserve to be ranked. If they don’t, they would fall out of the rankings. Though, ending the streak of death should be worth more than a few bonus points. Other teams of [...]

Minnsota is between Xavier and Butler. Other teams of note: #12 Michigan State #14 Purdue #21 Louisville Others receiving votes: #28 Michigan #30 Ohio State, who perhaps, should take losses a little more seriously. (Shameless attempt to get a link from a well read and commented on blog, let’s see if this works!) #32 Illinois

According to the voters, it seems the Gophers are for real, and so is Louisville. So, when do we get way ahead of ourselves and predict our NCAA tournament seed? Update: Gophers are also [...]

Another two votes in the AP Poll
Posted on 15. Dec, 2008 by JF.
The Gophers once again eked out two votes in the AP poll, but unlike last week, received no votes in the Coaches poll. Clearly the 14 point win on South Dakota State was as ugly on paper as it was in person. If the Gophers some how beat Louisville this Saturday, I’ll go out about [...]

Polls are in, and Minnesota has two votes
Posted on 08. Dec, 2008 by JF.
Minnesota received two votes in this weeks coaches poll, good enough for 37th in the country right behind Maryland and tied with Washington State. Other teams of note in the top 25 are Purdue at # 17, Michigan State at # 20, Ohio State is ranked #21. Somehow, Michigan still isn’t ranked. Yes it is [...]

Merry Christmas, we got a vote!

In another sign that a lot can change in a year, the Gopher basketball team received a vote in the ESPN/USA Today Poll. Sure, we are tied with California and Houston, but at least it is something. And considering that Houston throttled Kentucky, in some logically roundabout way, we could beat Kentucky too! The full [...]

New Polls

This weeks polls are out. In a bit of a shocker, the Gophers received one fewer vote than Kentucky in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll. Perhaps those Tubby detractors need a little expectation management help. More on that here. What that article fails to mention is that Kentucky’s “lack of success” during the Smith era [...]
