By the Numbers: Nine to Go
Posted on 04. Feb, 2010 by Face.
Gophers: 13-8, 4-5 in the Big Ten. Nine games to go. Lost four of their last five. Can things look bleaker?
It’s hard not to be discouraged after a season in which such high hopes have disintegrated into an abysmal pool of mediocrity. Results have fallen miles short of expectations, players have walked away from the [...]

Royce White was officially charged in the missing laptop incident. Still unclear if/when he will join the team.
It goes without saying, but as Wisconsin found out there are no easy games in Big Ten play.
Iowa goes to Bloomington and mauls Indiana by 15. Really?
Michigan State has decided to redesign it’s classic Spartan logo into a [...]

Quick thoughts: Gophers 86-74
Posted on 03. Jan, 2010 by JF.
Ten hours in the car over two days and one night in Iowa City in a motel room pushing 80 degrees aren’t conducive to writing a coherent article (just ask Marcus Fuller who thinks the Gophers almost lost to Iowa). So instead, add your own transition sentences, or enjoy the bullets.
My journey to Iowa was [...]

Golden Gophers vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
3:00 pm (CST) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena (Iowa City, Iowa)
Radio: WCCO 830 AM

One year removed from questioning whether the Minnesota-Iowa rivalry, once one of the most intense in all of college basketball, was dead, I’ve decided to find out first hand. In a first but hopefully not last [...]

Tickets are now on sale for Minnesota’s road game at Iowa. How fun would it be to show those dreaded Iowans that Gopher fans can travel well too.
The game will take place on January 2, 2010. The second being a Saturday and the first being a holiday, it is the perfect time to travel to [...]

The Gophers play Stephen F. Austin tonight. If my preview was insufficient, here are a couple more to check out.
As usual, it will be up to the Gopher basketball team to keep us all sane.
Why we do out best to avoid publishing unsubstantiated rumors.
There are injury bugs, and then the injury plague. Both Kevin Coble [...]

Enjoy the slow and calm off-season Gopher fans. It sure is better than the chaos gripping the college basketball world!
Iowa
The question isn’t who will be transferring, but who will be left. Minnesota native Jermaine Davis is officially gone. Jake Kelly might be too. Jeff Peterson and David Palmer are also mentioned as possible transfers. I’m [...]

A win is a win is a win, and the Gophers won
Posted on 09. Jan, 2009 by JF.
It was slow, boring, brutal to watch, excruciatingly painful, unrecognizable as basketball since 1920, but it was a win. In a dreadfully stereotypical Big Ten game, the Gophers won 52-49 to improve to 14-1 and 2-1 in the Big Ten.
In short, it was a game at Iowa. Its hard to believe that Iowa used to [...]

Post-game reading: #19 Minnesota 52 Iowa 49

Original thoughts later, I promise. Until then:
Whew! #19 Minnesota 52, Iowa 49
On a night when not much defense was expected during the BCS Championship game, there was plenty on display in Iowa City. Well, it was either that or horrible offense. Let’s pretend it was the former.
Escape!
Despite playing the worst game in Gopher history (including the [...]

Because it would just be too easy.
The officer arrived and separated the two. The 38-year-old female and the 26-year-old male, both in town from Iowa, were cited for indecent conduct before being released, respectively, to their husband and girlfriend.
Let’s just say it won’t be the only seperation in their near-future.

A few of you may remember what can only be described, in the words of the kids these days, my “Epic Fail” of a Big Ten Preview last year. Not only did I begin my preview half way through the season, but I started with the worst teams first, and didn’t bother finishing it. While [...]

Gophers finally run away from the Hawkeyes
Posted on 11. Feb, 2008 by JF.
So much for that freshman wall. Led by the speed and defense of Al Nolen and a small line-up, the Gophers blew open a close game to beat Iowa 63-50.
Nolen, who recently had been spending more time on the bench than on the court, energized Minnesota in the second half by playing his typical outstanding [...]

Their caucus sytem is based on barbeque and violates every tenant of democracy. The inmates (apes) run the asylum (research facility). The 80 acre enclosed rainforest that was supposed to save the state’s economy was a bigger failure than the former state slogan. If pigs gained a few brain cells, Des Moines would look something [...]

After watching last year’s edition of the Gopher basketball team, I know the despair and frustration of watching a helpless basketball team led by a hopeless coach. I know how heartbroken Jay Gatsby felt when thought he had rejected by Daisy. I know the excruciating pain Opheila experienced when Hamlet stabbed Polonius, and I understand [...]
