Damian Johnson out 4-6 weeks with hand injury

Not good…not good at all. Anyone still complaining about the weak nonconference schedule? Gophers forward Damian Johnson will miss 4 to 6 weeks with a broken left hand, according to Gophers spokesman Matt Slieter. Johnson broke the hand in practice Monday, Slieter said. That means Johnson could make his return as early as mid-November or early December. Minnesota’s ACC/Big Ten matchup against Virginia is six weeks from today. For the Gophers, losing Johnson for up to six week is not a huge blow because they…

Missing Links

Its summer, its Minnesota, regardless or the hail, the rain, the tornadoes, and inevitable mosquito induced mayhem, it is better to be outside than in front of a computer. Though I am barely able to muster enough anguish and regret, I do apologize for the lack of updates, though nothing newsworthy has really taken place. To make up for it, and in the spirit of the political season, and in the spirit of that, I present to you all the news you may or may…

Devoe’s Debut, Coach Mo lands on his feet

What better way to spend a…

Was Maryland made to beat the Gophers?

Match-ups trump talent. Minnesota, on paper, was a much better team than Illinois. The Gophers beat teams teams that Illinois could not, won more games, had a much better season, and still lost three times to the Illini. They lost to UNLV and Florida State, but in all likelihood could have beaten teams that handled the Seminoles and the Running Rebels. I bring these teams up, because if you saw the disappointing performance that Minnesota turned in during the non-conference season against these two teams,…

Blake or Devoe: Who takes the final shot next year?

Blake of course, right? But two options are better than one. Good video: horrible, typical, youtube audio. Bad video: better audio with no horrible music. Looks like Devoe can be clutch in a championship game too. And yes, the Gophers lost to Illinois for the 20th straight time. Not all that suprising, or worth writing about. If I devoted any energy to describing what happened, I’d have to write about a spring thunderstorm or a chance of flurries next November. A forty below windchill in…
