Barn Blurbs is rounding up the tale of two halves

Austin Hollins scorches Northwestern for five 3-pointers in three minutes
Hollins was so scalding hot for one three-minute second-half stretch there might as well have been singed nets and flames shooting out of the basketball.

Let’s go to the tape

Men’s Basketball: Northwestern runs out of steam against Minnesota

The defining stretch Carmody describes came early in the second half, when Minnesota went on a 23-5 run over a nearly seven-minute stretch. The Cats trailed 19-18 with 16 minutes and 28 seconds left, but with 9 minutes and 38 seconds left, the deficit became 42-23. The run energized the crowd in Minneapolis and put NU on its heels.

Slow Down Gives Northwestern a Chance but Speed and Talent Don’t
On the other hand, when they attempt to play at a fast pace you get what you got today when NU tried to speed the game up and Austin Hollins caught fire and drilled multiple threes in a row.

The Gophers move up to #8 in the AP Poll.
They hop Ohio State, and face #5 Indiana and #12 Illinois this week.

‘Cause I Know You Love Your Tempo-Free: Barnstormin’ (Also, the post-game thread for ‘Cats at Gophers)
While Austin Hollins led a great 3pt performance for the Gophers (43% tonight, compared to season average 32.4%), it was the Gophers Voltron-esque control of the offensive glass that was the gamebreaker tonight.

Stall ball works for awhile, poor rebounding does in ‘cats 69-51
Minnesota had 21 offensive rebounds, besting NU’s ENTIRE rebounding total (20), which is up there in terms of embarassing stats. However, it really was a lack of communication and complete and utter assignment and switching breakdowns that cost NU in this one.

Big Ten Geeks: Is Ohio State good?
Indeed, the difference in offensive rebounding percentage between those two teams is the same as the distance between #2 and #13. In fact, Minnesota has a long, long ways to decline in this area before they wouldn’t be the best offensive rebounding team since 1998 (and it likely goes back further than that, I just can’t find the data any further back).

  1. I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours as of late, but I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It’s lovely price sufficient for me.
In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made good content material as
you probably did, the web might be much more useful than ever before.
